This may indeed be possible, but it requires specially written drivers that can recognise and support multiple interfaces. So what are the options? Well, some musicians fall at the first hurdle, by assuming that they can buy a second interface identical to their existing one, to double up on features. Lots of musicians are still perfectly happy with the performance and audio quality of units that are a few years old, especially since they cost a lot of money when first bought.

After all, while PC technology generally moves forward in huge leaps and bounds, the performance of audio interfaces is a much more measured affair. Of course, you could buy a new interface that provides all the features you need in one neat hardware package, but many musicians are loath to abandon the perfectly good interface they already have, especially since it's probably worth peanuts second-hand. Others are lusting after various recent interfaces that offer high-quality mic preamps and built-in DSP effects. For instance, those moving from stereo to surround work will need perhaps six outputs instead of two, while those who suddenly find themselves faced with a live band or other ensemble recording may suddenly require another half-dozen mic-input channels for multitrack work.
There's been a recent spate of queries from musicians asking how feasible it is to add more inputs and outputs to an existing audio interface, as their recording and playback requirements become more sophisticated. Complicated stuff but I am trying to learn and identify the problems.If you need more audio interfacing, do you really have to trash an interface that's otherwise perfectly satisfactory and buy a bigger one? Maybe not, as ways of using several smaller interfaces together are becoming easier to find. I'm not sure what, if anything, changed but this is all so confusing to me haha. Also i could play through my computer speakers and record Stereo Mix through Audacity. What I'm confused about is, I won't hear sound unless I have headphones plugged into the Scarlett, but just a few weeks ago, I had a configuration that was working with headphones plugged into my comp's aux port and it was working fine. I'll see what happens with different configurations once I plug the headphones into the scarlett. I've tried Wasapi again, and it looks like Guitar Rig is recognizing the guitar. I've also downloaded Native Access, but it crashes when I open it every time. But when I try to do that, it says "You tried to load an effect plug-in, Load GR5 into the mixer instead. I see it under Add comes up as a plug-in like other FL plugins, Sakura, Piano, etc., Guitar Rig. I've made sure it's in every VST folder I could find. I set up the Scarlett as an instrument within fruity loops, but when I look for Guitar Rig for a plugin effect, it does not show up. Sorry if this is obvious but I really am lost. I know the Output is supposed to be the playback, and the input is the Scarlett right? So are Line in R & L both the Scarlett device? And the output is also Scarlett? I am not sure if they are set up correctly, or what I am even really trying to define here. And for Output I have Line Out L, Line Out R, I'm confused as to where is it getting these inputs and outputs? What is the 1 and 2? Where are these defined? I'm buying a headphone adapter for the scarlett today.Īs far as setting the Input/Output in the audio options in Guitar Rig, i have either -Not Connected- or 1:Line In L, or 2:Line In R. It's a recurring problem, and I fail to see the reason. I have tried all other sample rates, still no sound. A few weeks ago, Guitar Rig was outputting sound, but only through headphones. Although it is only the Right channel that produces sound. I can record clean guitar tones to Audacity, using Scarlett Solo as default recording device. I am receiving a signal in GR5, Verifying that my guitar is being read by GR5. I have tried all the solutions offered in the first couple of pages on Google search, but I believe this is a more unique problem. All of a sudden, Guitar Rig is producing no sound. I was successfully and easily recording to Audacity, through Stereo Mix, using my Guitar hooked up to my Scarlett Solo, and filtering FX with guitar Rig.
